Happy #asianamericanpacificislanderheritagemonth! I recently got an assignment to write an early reader of #Hindu #FolkTales, and the experience was…murdery. So many of our ancient tales are brutal. That's why I so appreciate #UnderTheGreatPlumTree, a gorgeously illustrated, humanely reimagined version of The Monkey and the Crocodile. I also love that it's written and illustrated by Muslim authors, and that the art has clear Persian and Mughal influences. The kid loves it too, and we MAY have read it seven times yesterday. Highly recommend this one.
