Tiny Owl started in 2015. Co-founders Delaram Ghanimifard and her husband moved to the UK in 2010. At that time their younger son Nikan was nine years old and just starting to learn to read and write in English. Delaram looked for books for him to read, but there were very few that showed characters who looked like him or reflected his culture. Having worked in the publishing industry, they decided to start publishing picture books that introduce other cultures to children in the UK. So our motto is “Picture books for everyone”!

Our first books were translations of the best children’s books from Iran. We then began to commission new books from brilliant authors and illustrators around the world. Tiny Owl now publishes inspiring and meaningful picture books. We believe that diverse books belong in the centre, not the margins. All children deserve to see themselves in the books they read regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture or social status. We work closely with teachers and librarians to help get diverse and inclusive books into the hands of children who need them.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us on our journey. We look forward to publishing many more beautiful books!
