Every family is unique, there's normalness and weirdness in every family unit. What's brilliant is that we're now seeing a lot more variety in children's books. I came up with the idea of Little Box of Books when I was a single parent, never seeing us going about our normal family business in the books we were reading. I would have loved finding this gem during that time. A story featuring a single mam who's never mentioned…she's just there bringing up some lovely children. Seeing family diversity in stories is good for all kids. It sometimes gets a shrug, sometimes we get questions, sometimes he knows someone whose family is similar. Nothing is surprising, everything is normal, everybody is different. It's a great foundation.
