The story of Tahmineh’s Beautiful Bird happens in a Qashqai tribe. The Qashghai are nomadic tribespeople in Iran who move around with their sheep, and live in tent homes. They have different and interesting life-style. The whole tribe moves during summer and autumn.
The wool they produce is particularly fine and strong, and brightly coloured after it has been dyed with flowers and herbs. Qashqai girls weave decorate artefacts from the wool, including chantehs, which are woven carpet-like shoulder bags.
