Our series Hope in A Scary World has stories that give children hope and show them how to cope with the problems of the world we live in. The first book in the series is the moving story There’s Room for Everyone. It shares a message of peace, tolerance and acceptance, and reminds us not to be greedy.
This wonderful and touching tale was created by Iranian author and illustrator Anahita Teymorian. As well as writing, illustrating and painting, she also works with animation. She lives with her daughter and their cat in Tehran. Her picture books have also been translated into various languages and published in a range of countries, including China, Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong. She has won awards at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the Noma Concours.
Anahita has written two other books for Tiny Owl, The Clever Mouse and A Bird Like Himself . Her illustrated books have reflections of her own culture, but also an inclusive language that all children can relate to. The stories she shares are modern fables, imparting important messages that inspire children. For example, The Clever Mouse shows not just how we should look past our appearances, but also strive to achieve even our more far-fetched dreams. A Bird Like Himself highlights the importance of love, both parental and romantic. Anahita herself has a wonderful explanation for her message behind There’s Room for Everyone:
I want my voice to be carried to the next generation overseas by a small paper boat. In a world that we’re destroying evermore for the purpose of leading better lives, there is room for everyone. Everything is enough.
We at Tiny Owl are so happy to help spread her message of kindness and acceptance with our readers!
