Edinburgh International Book Festival: something for everyone!
As the world’s largest celebration of writing, the Edinburgh International Book Festival is guaranteed to have something for book lovers of all ages. Running from 12 – 28 August, it promises to be a packed programme featuring over 800 writers and thinkers – including events by Tiny Owl!

This will be the third year that Tiny Owl goes to Edinburgh: in 2015 we were there with an event by Anahita Teymorian, author and illustrator of The Clever Mouse and A Bird Like Himself; and in 2016 we took Nahid Kazemi, author and illustrator of The Orange House, and illustrator of Alive Again.
We had hoped to take two of our other artists as well, who were also booked for other events up and down the country – Ali Seidabadi (A Rainbow in My Pocket, Bijan and Manije) in 2015 and Marjan Vafaian (The Parrot and the Merchant, Bijan and Manije) in 2016 – but disappointingly their visa applications were both declined.

This year we can promise several events for both children and adults on 14 – 15 August, including a workshop exploring the powerful Iranian story The Little Black Fish, led by storyteller Alia Alzougbi, who has already held stunning workshops for us at the Greenwich Book Festival and the Hay International Festival.
Also present at workshops will be Ehsan Abdollahi, whose stunning illustrations light up When I Coloured In the World and A Bottle of Happiness, and who is now at work on another upcoming Tiny Owl title!
There’s an event for adults too: Azita Rassi, who translates Tiny Owl’s books from Persian, will discuss the idea of visual and cultural translation in picture books, together with authors Pippa Goodhart (A Bottle of Happiness) and Daniel Hahn.
