Are there many things more important than a good library? Here at Tiny Owl we don’t think so. That’s why we’re celebrating Libraries Week – and why we think you should be too!
One of the best things you can do for your children is to make a habit of taking them to the library regularly. It’s a powerful and free resource for cultivating a love of reading. Make it part of their weekly routine – this will form good library-visiting habits when they are older!
It’ll also mean that your local library receives regular visitors, helping to protect it from closure. We are very much opposed to the widespread cuts to and closure of public libraries; it strips communities of one of their most valuable resources – a place where children and adults can go to learn, enjoy themselves, discover whole new worlds.
Of course, they couldn’t do this without the help of wonderful librarians. These are people who freely and openly share their knowledge with others, and help people to find the best book for their needs – whether that be for study or pleasure, a useful textbook or their new favourite story.
So celebrate libraries and their librarians this Libraries Week by paying your local a visit!
