We are ecstatic to be able to finally announce that Grobblechops has been featured on the Reading Agency’s Reading Well booklist! Reading Well for children supports children and their families to understand and manage their health and wellbeing using helpful reading available in libraries.

Grobblechops is part of the Reading Well for children booklist!

Grobblechops was chosen from over 1000 submissions and was admired for its universal message of acknowledging and making friends with your fears. It is an honour to be featured on such a brilliant list full of wonderful books! Read what they had to say about Grobblechops below!

“Amir thinks that a monster will come and eat him up! But Dad reassures Amir that if the monster family comes to play, then the parents will have a good old chat whilst Amir makes a new friend. This oversized picture book adroitly calms a child’s fear of monsters through some creative parental problem-solving.”

One boy, aged 10, explains “I used to be scared that someone was in my bedroom when I was asleep.”

Almost two thirds of children aged 8-11 say they feel stressed, sad or worried at least once a month. Reading Well for children recommends reading to help children understand their feelings and worries and cope with tough times. The books have been chosen by children, carers, health experts and librarians. They are endorsed by leading health organisations such as NHS England, Mind and the Royal College of GPs.

The booklist is targeted at children in Key Stage 2 (aged 7-11) and includes a wide range of reading levels to support less confident readers, and to encourage children to read together with their siblings and carers.
