What did you like about the book? This is a cute story about a little cat in Paris who travels around the city creating a wonderful and magical life. Cat lives in Paris (with her very extended family) behind a fishmonger’s shop. The daily squabbles for fish parts gets a little too much for Cat, so she goes out on her own to seek wonderful adventures. Her first stop leads her to a cafe where Édith Piaf is performing. Unfortunately, when Cat decides to join in, this is not well received and Cat is back out on the streets. The next stop is a dressmaker and Cat is able to go a little more unnoticed in this location. In the evenings when the shop is closed, she would gather all the fabric scraps on the floor and make beautiful costumes for herself. She then goes to a nightclub where Josephine Baker is performing and ends up being a part of the act. This eventually leads her to create her own nightclub and invite all her family to her new club. This is a silly and somewhat random story, but delightful all the same. This is a cat that truly knows how to make the most of Paris.
The illustrations provided by Piet Grobler are very colorful (especially the costumes created by Cat) and the facial expressions on the characters add a great deal to the story. The illustrations are a little abstract and whimsical and will be sure to delight young children.
