This book would be a fantastic resource in a learning setting not only on the subject of sharing and being fair but also a brilliant one to use for problem solving in an early learning setting. Bear and Hare have their eyes on some pears but oh no the tree is too tall for either of them to reach. What could they use to assist them? Well, they come up with a plan, chairs, but they have three of them. One for you and two for me? After much discussion it’s a beetle and his wise words and gentle explanations of what fairness is that make Hare and Bear understand how to solve this problem. And much to Hare and Bear’s delight, the conclusion is a rather happy one. The conversations between Hare and Bear are innocent and childlike and the expressive illustrations truly capture how each of them are feeling. The simple story is in keeping with its target audience of younger readers and the playful, colourful artwork is such a treat.
