We’re so excited that our latest book Cinderella of the Nile is out TODAY! Cinderella of the Nile is written by Carnegie award-winning author Beverley Naidoo, and is illustrated by award-winning Iranian illustrator Marjan Vafaeian. It’s the first in our new One Story, Many Voices series, a series which explores well-known tales from around the world.

Cinderella of the Nile is a beautiful retelling of the earliest-known version of Cinderella. In this tale a rosy-cheeked girl called Rhodopis is abducted by bandits from her home in Greece and enslaved in Egypt. Although she makes friends with a host of animals and the storyteller Aesop, she remains unhappy. When her master gives her a pair of beautiful rose-red slippers, no one realises that this small gift will lead Rhodopis to the King of Egypt.

Cinderella of the Nile encourages children to explore alternate perspectives to well-known tales, allowing them to learn about other cultures in a fascinating way. Though the earliest-known version of Cinderella, the story is little known today. With her beautiful story-telling, Beverley reclaims the importance of this tale, while Marjan brings a unique perspective to the story: her illustrations are inspired by Egyptian Art. This is the perfect book for anyone who loves fairy tales.
