Beverley Naidoo, author of Cinderella of the Nile, signing books at Hay Book Festival 2018

Carnegie award-winning author Beverley Naidoo and Marjan Vafaeian are bringing their 2,000 year-old retelling of Cinderella to Edinburgh International Book Festival on Wednesday 22 August.

We’ve all heard the Cinderella story, but this one’s a little different. It follows the story of Rhodopis, a Greek girl who is sold into slavery. Though she makes friends with Aesop (the storyteller) and a bunch of animals, she remains unhappy. Until, a twist of fate, and Horus the falcon, lead her to the king of Egypt.
