This little but lively book is part of Tiny Owl’s “Children. Music. Life” series, which focuses on musical instruments from around the world, created by award-winning picture book author and artist Ken Wilson-Max.

In this book, we meet the drum. The text itself is short and simple. The reader is encouraged to feel the beat and move their body. The final page shows a drum, waiting to be played, encouraging interaction.

The illustrations are vibrant and musical. Bright colours and a diverse community make the pages dance along. It is a nice production with rounded edge pages and the small hardback format make it suitable for even babies. A simple book that could really come to life with the right reading.
