Nahid Kazemi is the illustrator of two titles from Tiny Owl: Alive Again and recently The Orange House. Her work has absorbed so many attractions. To introduce her more to our audience, we asked her a few questions and she kindly replied to them. She lives in Montreal, Canada, so the conversation took place via email.
When did you start your profession as an illustrator?
I started my work in 2003 as an illustrator and graphic designer in a professional literature magazine named Asre Panjshanbe. It was an art magazine, which also included short stories. I started my job with illustrating those short stories. The executive editor of the magazine, Mr. Shahryar Mandanipour, is a famous writer in Iran. He asked me to work on his new book that was written for children so I got into the world of illustration with 1001Year written by Shahryar Mandanipour.
What feedbacks did you get for Alive Again, your book published by Tiny Owl?
I have got so many comments from fellow artists and writers regarding the success of my work and its publication by Tiny Owl, most of them told me Alive Again is a book for all ages not just for children.
Do you believe that your illustrations can communicate with all children worldwide?
To communicate with a wider range of readers and audiences is one of the biggest wishes for any artist. Me too am always trying to draw, regardless of borders.
Which one of your works are your favourite one?
I believe choosing a work as a favourite one is the hardest thing to do for artists. Artists create their work in a moment. So each work is the best at that moment.

According to Nahid, being an illustrator started from her childhood. She made books with her own hands and painted them. At that time she had the dream of making cheerful and colourful books instead of the boring ones.
When she grew up, Nahid continued doing this even in university.
She received her masters in painting from Tehran Art University and started attending inland and outland festivals and cooperated with publishers inside and outside her country. She has illustrated more than 50 books for children.
